A leftover stump is a lawn mower hazard, a termite invitation and a dead spot in the middle of the yard. We grind stumps well below ground level so you can use the space again.
Grinding beats digging.
Digging a stump out tears up the yard and leaves a crater. Grinding chews the stump into mulch in place, typically 150 to 300 millimetres below ground level, deeper if you're planning to plant, pave or build over the spot. When we're done you're left with a shallow bed of mulch and clean soil.

Why bother?
Old stumps attract termites and fungal decay, sprout suckers for years, and make mowing and landscaping a pain. If you're removing a tree with us, adding the stump grind at the same time is the cheapest way to get it done.

Common questions.
How deep do you grind?
Standard is 150 to 300 millimetres below ground level, which is plenty for turf and garden beds. If you're paving, concreting or building over the spot, tell us and we'll grind deeper.
Can you get to a stump in the backyard?
In most cases yes. Our grinders fit through a standard gate. For genuinely tight access there are smaller machines available, so send a photo of the access with your quote request.
Do you remove the grindings?
By default the mulch is levelled back into the hole, which settles over a few months. If you want the hole backfilled with soil ready for turf, we can remove the grindings and backfill instead.
